Pseudo Christmas 2008 Details!

Hey everyone, It seems like we're all uber-busy with life, school, work, and exams. But, I hope that the end is nigh for you all. NIGH, I SAY!

Indeed, this time of stress in the year also marks the return of a time honoured tradition: PSEUDO-CHRISTMAS!!!

This year, we are going to do things a little differently... we're going to do a Secret Santa and Auction.

Secret Santa
You will be getting an email from the website Elfster soon, which will invite you to participate. The subject is: "Jason invites you to participate in a gift exchange", so watch your junk folders. Once everyone has confirmed/de-confirmed, I will start drawing names, and you will receive another email telling you who your secret santa gift receiver is.

Auction
This is Jamie's awesome idea. In addition to buying a gift for your secret santa gift receiver, you should buy two smaller joke gifts. These gifts will be auctioned off using monopoly money, with the gifts going to the highest bidder. Simple, no? Use your creative skills/funny bones for these!

PC 2008 Logistics
Ah logistics..... I suggest Monday, December 22 for a date. As for a time, how about 2:00PM to start? As for location, well... any takers? Thanks to Emily to making her place available, but this is after her mom's back. So any one else up for hosting? Also thanks to Erin for making her place available. The host/ess can feel free to tweak anything about the time and format.

Conclusions
I know this email may not express it, but I am EXCITED to see everyone again. I hope all goes well in these latter days of exams and papers and work, and I hope to hear from you all very soon!

This is all fine and good, but I had expressed regret and a certain bit of confusion if this is the way it'll be.

I had mentioned I already got a gift for Twill waaay back, so what am I going to do with that? I can't be guaranteed to be her secret Santa, and I think it'd be silly to be guaranteed something like that anyway.

Do explain what this means for me.

First of all, Natrix, check your email when you have a chance. I have a few suggestions about the gift dilemma. Sorry for the frustration ): I really appreciate the thought and everything, and I hope we can work something out.

Second, if we are going to do the auction, we should probably set a price range limit. Such as no more than $10 per item, or $10 in total or something like that. It's up to discussion.

Sorry for the confusion, Natrix, but let me know if any of the resolutions that Twill put out solve the issue. If not, I am sure that we can work something else out.

I'm in the same boat as Natrix, actually. I've already gotten gifts for several people. And some of them can't be returned. I dunno...

What were Twill's suggestions? Can you put them up here as well?

The main thing was just guaranteeing me as his reciever person, but if you've gotten gifts for several people then it doesn't work so well.

You could notify the people you've gotten gifts for and they could possibly reciprocate. Or maybe this is just not viable this year? I don't know. Can any of the gifts you've gotten that can't be return become auction gifts or are they the sort of thing that's meant for a certain individual?

Perhaps we need to do a hybrid, where some do secret santa and some don't? I'm not sure, but if the 22nd is going to be the day to do it, some idea of what's going on kind of needs to get figured out. Host place, too.

Ah, don't you love the crazy busy time of the year?

I think it's fine, Twill. Obsidian had a good idea... obvious too. ^^' I'll just reserve some for birthdays and stuff. So it should work out that way.

Although 22nd is after my mum comes back, I should still be able to host at my place. It'll be great if people bring board games and other party stuff though.

Heyo. I don't know if this should go in the main blog, but I can host again this year, if that's alright with everyone. I'm not the world's most thrilling host, but I have gin, and there's a big yard and we could be kids and make snow forts and stuff, and there are plenty of OH BOY, BOARD GAMES XD There's all kinds of stuff lying around that we can use as tokens for the auction, too.

Also, there is an assassin bird, a hungry fish, and a lopsided Christmas tree. God bless us, everyone.
