Heroes Heroes Heroes

Well, after watching last night's Heroes, color me amazed. Who knew this X-men wannabe tv show could turn out to be so freaking good, and actually have acting and a plot and drama! I predict a whole bunch of Heroes-wannabe shows for next seasons, just like when Lost originally came out, and everyone came out with these high concept thrillers that just tanked and bombed. Anyone remember Invasion, The Nine, and some whose names escape me at the moment?

I think the Cheerleader is the bomb, or maybe it's because I first saw her as the Coach's daughter in Remember the Titans, or as the voice of the girly bug in A Bug's Life. Or maybe it's because right before Heroes premiered, I saw her in the direct to dvd sequel of Bring it on, Bring it on: All or Nothing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Reading Week. It's scary, because there's only like 6 weeks of classes left. I found out my last exam, and it falls on my birthday. How exciting. So you guys can expect me to be back sometime around then.

p.s. Finally saw The Departed. Have to say that Marty totally deserved his Best Director and Best Picture wins. It's definetly stylistically different than the original Hong Kong drama, Infernal Affairs. Way more cursing and bloodyness though. I highly recommend it. The only major oscar movies I have yet to see is Little Miss Sunshine and Letters from Iwo Jima.

I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Weiner...

That is what I truly wish to be. It's Oscar night, but I don't think I'll watch it, because the movies are kinda sucky this year and not really compelling, and the acting awards are pretty much a deadlock. I hope everyone had a glorious reading week, I actually wish I could relive it again, and spend less time lounging about. I've made grand plans in advance for next year's Reading Week. Hopefully, I'll go to Disneyworld or somewhere in the U.S. with my housemates, and we shall cavort. I've never been, so I must make up for missing it all out when I was a wee little lassie.

I've noticed that all of the Asian guys I'm meeting here at Queens are all alike, it's a clone army, and not even the hot Star Wars kind.

Happy Birthday Everyone!!!

Greetings Everyone!!!

Today is the seventh day of Chinese New Year, the day, according to Chinese folklore, that humans were created and put on earth! It's generally accepted as the last day of continuous celebration for Chinese New Year, with all Chinese New Year's festivities coming to a conclusion on the 15th day of the first lunar month (which will be Sunday, March 4 this year). The 15th day of the first lunar month is also known as "Chinese Valentine's Day" or the "Latern Festival".

So ya! Happy Birthday everyone! Eat lots of chicken day! (A symbol of longevity and prosperity!)

新年快樂! 恭喜發財!

Yay!

Today marks the start of the Year of the Pig (and there was much rejoicing!) I want to wish you all:

新年快樂!
恭喜發財!

心想事成!
萬事勝意!

I'm too lazy to translate right now, but be assured that they're messages of good luck and well wishes... not some sort of weirdo Chinese voodoo curse thing....

OMG! Obsidian... thanks for posting the vid! I totally agree with you... Best YouTube video EVER!!! LOVED IT... only viewed the first ten minutes or so... but I'm going to finish the other thirty minutes later. Btw... what video game(s) is that movie based on? I seem to remember playing one or two arcade games that have a very similar format. But anway, very classy, very good... very good indeed.

GASP! Starbucks has a T-SHIRT GIVEAWAY!!! They're giving away T-shirts with your personalized favourite drink on it!! GASP!!!! I have to wake up early and go the website... must get free T-shirt.... and in the mean time, there's this funky thing where you can make your own favourite drink background/avatars!!! DIES!!!!!!!!!I'll be spending a lot of time on that site for the next few days....

I've reach a new low... I'm actually doing work during reading week.... Damn chemistry..... Grrr.....

So ya... I haven't called any of you yet because most of you are probably busy with Chinese New Year stuff... I'll start calling when things calm down after 大年初二 (The Second Day of Chinese New Year)

Are you Lonesome Tonight?

Only sometimes, because it's Reading Week, and everyone else has run away home. Alas. Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! I believe it's going to be the year of the Pig. Much luck and prosperity to everyone.

I just saw the best videoclip ever on Youtube. People who've played video games will most especially like this.

Third Time's the Bloody Charm

I'm sick again. That's right. My immune system hates me. First it was the sniffles and running with the nose, then it was the hacking cough, and now it's the nausea/headaches. February is not a good month for me. I've learned my lesson, and you know what I'm going to do next time I come back to school? I'm going to bring so many drugs and medicines and everything so I can be prepared for anything. I'm even going to try that Cold FX. I hate being sick. On a brighter note, it was my brother's birthday on Monday. He's 14 now. Wow, don't you just feel old?

Happy Valentine's Day to everybody, may you all combust with pinkness and candy and kisses.
I'm hoping I won' combust until then.

Attention all "Project Runway", "Heroes", Starbucks and Bai Ling Fans!!!

Hey all,

So apparently Starbucks paired up with Project Runway designer Mychael Knight to create personalized Starbucks beverage T-Shirts for a whole bunch of celebrities at the Golden Globes! A lot of them are pretty awesome and apparently, they're doing this online auction thing with a portion of the proceeds going to charity (I won't bid on them myself, but just though you guys would like to view them).

So exactly who got a T-shirt? Quite a few big names, too many that I don't want to type them out, but I can tell you that a few "Heroes" stars on there. Here's the link y'all: http://www.clothesoffourback.org/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=starbucks&page=1

So ya, Kris, Bai Ling's T-Shirt is on there.... it has no bids on it yet... here's the link:

Jokes, jokes, jokes

I realize that no matter how lame jokes are, they still make me smile. Smiling makes everything better.

I recently heard a Science joke, and even though I don't love Science, I thought it was still funny. Em should avert her eyes though! Are you averting?

The fluorine atom sat lonely in her room. She had everything a young atom could want, except one thing: an eighth electron in her outer orbital. She peered out her window, and saw a young, hansome sodium atom walking down the street. This was it, she had been waiting too long. She got dressed and walked outside.

The sodium atom atom was walking down the street, minding his own business. He had a big, firm nucleus and a 2p orbital to die for. But all that the fluorine atom cared about was his one, lonely electron in his 3s orbital. The fluorine atom stood in the middle of the sidewalk, blocking his path.

“Hey hot stuff,” the fluorine atom said in sexy voice, “what are you doing all alone on a night like this?”

“I am late for a very important single replacement reaction with silver nitrate,” said the sodium atom, “Please don’t hurt me.” He tried to step aside,
but the fluorine atom move with him, blocking his path.

“Not anymore,” replied the fluorine atom, “I’ve had an incomplete octet for far too long, and tonight is my lucky night.”

The sodium atom tried to turn and run, but the fluorine atom grabbed him and threw him to the ground. She lowered herself and gently straddled his chest, and looked sinisterly into his eyes.

“Don’t even think about running. According to Graham’s Law, I’m 1.10 times faster than you. You could never out run me. “
She turned to see if anyone was watching, and when the coast cleaclear, she said slyly,
“And now to take what is mine.”

She turned and unbuttoned the sodium atom’s pants and slid them off his wildly kicking legs. The fluorine atom herself pulled off her own dress, leaving nothing but panties and a bra to cover her shapely non-metal body. She pulled down the sodium atom’s
underwear and grabbed his slowly-hardening 3s orbital, stroking it gently. She quickly let go, not wanting him to ionize too quickly. She slid off her panties, revealing a shapely ass and a clean-shaven 1p orbital. The sodium atom did not have much time to admire it before her stank 1p orbital encapsulated his erect 3s orbital.
“yes, YES!” the fluorine atom screamed. The sodium atom could not hold back. He grabbed her bra and tore it off, feeling her silky breasts. He was starting to climax.
“Give it to me!” yelled the flourine atom, herself climaxing. The sodium atom came, releasing his 3s1 electron.

Just then, the sodium atom felt a sudden change. He began shrinking rapidly from the loss of his 3s orbital. Before long, he was no longer a young, innocent sodium ion; he was a robust, seasoned sodium cation. He looked at himself, admiring his new [Ne] electron configuration.
He looked up to the fluorine atom. She too has changed, growing slightly and achieving an [Ne] electron configuration of her own. The fluorine atom, now an anion, was frightened. She hadn’t expected this. She tried to get up, but she couldn’t. She was stuck. The fluorineon, on, in her youthful behavior, neglected to consider the consequences of her actions. She and the sodium cation were no longer mere insignificant atoms anymore.

They were now sodium fluoride, an important ingredient in toothpaste.

The Most Disturbing Thing I've Seen This Year... so far...

That would be the documentary Jesus Camp.
My goodness, they're not even Jehovah's Witnesses, they're some crazy summer Christian camp. Let's just influence those malleable children, teach them how to 'see' visions. She preacher wants kids to be as radicalized or 'devoted' as other religions such as Islam. Such a crazy film, it was more disturbing than An Inconvenient Truth. Someone save our children, and our glaciers!

On a lighter note, THE END IS NIGH
aka, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
coming to a bookstore near you, July 21, a week after the release of the 5th film. I'll be there, reading my eyes out. Seriously, the cheapest place to buy it in Calgary would be Safeway. It's true. I mean, you can get it at a discount price at amazon.ca which is cheaper than Chapters, but I know, because I used to work there, Safeway or Superstore has the cheapest price.

To the Duke, the boys are tall, one is blond, the other is not. The other is this wallflower who is a blur. I'm sick again people. The hacking kind this time, which is even worse, because I can't sleep.

p.s. I saw Babel Natrix, and it totally deserves to win Best Picture. I think you'd like it. The most compelling part is the one set in Japan. Alas, I did not feel so much for Brad Pitt and his oldness.
