Christmas is A-comin'

Edit The Second!

I actually can't host PC as much as I would want to... Bed in the living room kind of means no room for us. 'Cause, you know, it's small.

Also, so far, have heard that people are interested in Secret Santa, others aren't, and the auction seems interesting. What do you think, people who have no said anything? o_o

Edit

I just wanted to add in here that instead of the usual Pseudo-Christmas thing, we could always go in a bit of a different direction. For example, Secret Santa or we could buy random mysterious presents and then aution them off with fake money, or even a combo of the two (one real secret santa gift and one 'gag' gift for the auction). Nyx also mentioned maybe doing something personal for everyone, like a hand-crafted item or something like that. There's plenty we could do. If you have any ideas, or any preference, throw it in the comments. Me? I'm good with just about anything :)

End Edit

Hey everybody!

First of all, Happy Belated Birthday to the November gals :D

Second, it's getting to that time of year again where we argue over schedules and locations, ponder over presents, and then finally collide at a fun and crazy Pseudo-Christmas bash. But in order to get there, we need to get hoppin' on plans and present ideas, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

I believe my mom's apartment in Kensington would be free to host something, though I'd need to confirm for a date. For me, something on the 22nd, 23rd or 24th works best, or I suppose squeezing it in between real Christmas and New Years. I might have more availability but I'm not 100% what my job requires of me for winter break so I'll get back to you.

As for presents, well, have a list :D

TWILL'S WISHLIST

DVDs
Ben 10 seasons 1 and 4
Speed Racer
Iron Man
The Dark Knight

COMICs
DC
Countdown to Final Crisis volumes 1-4 (in order, of course)
JLA: Crisis of Conscience
Amazons Attack
Showcase Presents: The Flash

BOOKs
Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony
Paul of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson

WII
This kind of stuff is expensive so I'll leave it as 'If interested, ask'

MISC
- giftcards for Safeway
- amazon.ca gift certificates
- gift certificates to Another Dimension comics

I would ask, too, that you keep a receipt as some of these items will be told to family for Christmas ideas, some of whom are in other provinces. Also, if you could stick to the list only deviating if there's something you know I'd like, like something superhero-y. Knicknacks of this kind are okay, as are plushies, but that's about it.

:D

I already bought you something for this ages ago (well, within this year at least) that I'm fairly certain you'll go ga-ga over. Well, I HOPE so. :)

But, it's not the list, nor is it on your general notes about okay others (stuffies and whatnot).

And there is no way you'll get this from family or others. Well...it's doubtful, at least.

That's all I'll say! Haha, it may not have been wise to hype this, because I'd hate for you to be disappointed.

Is it a bomb? O_o

Close! It's another form of terrorism. Try...bio-terrorism. ;)

:o

Well now I'm terribly curious.

I have no worries at all. I add a note like this for those who might think to get me something very out there, like a parrot, or maybe a notebook (which are pretty but I have lots and don't use them enough as it is) or something of the like. It's generally the case of I already have this kind of stuff and I don't really need more.

So, your description sounds awesome. And maybe a little scary (with the bio-terrorism thing o_o).

I was right maybe it's a bio-terrorist bomb! GASP! What a great present!

In PC-related news, I am uber-supportive of a secret santa idea. We would need to figure out the logistics of that, considering how we're all scattered, but it can be done.

I'm VERY intrigued by the idea of a PC Auction with fake money... how would that work, Twill? Very intrigued indeed.... And I think that would be more fun! We just neeed to brace ourselves for a lot of yelling, screaming, wreslting.... although we already do that for PC anyway....

that's harsh, because I know I'm the one who got you the parrot.

No no, it wasn't meant to be harsh. Sorry Obsidian, I didn't get that across very well. It's that there possibilities that someone might get me something different from my list and while in the past it's happened and be fun and nice (like the parrot or like a bunch of notebooks), this year I'd rather stick to the things on my list. I said the same thing last year too. Call me boring. The parrot was definitely out there and it's too bad I couldn't fit him in my dorm :\

Secret Santa, so long as we get together at some point, is relatively easy. It just takes someone to coordinate it who is willing to know who everyone got. Or maybe there can be a third party involved. I'll think on it.

As for the auction, we'd just use Monopoly money, for example, and maybe we'd each bring 2 secondary gifts (which don't have to be a lot of money) and we could each then bid on two presents with our money, open them, and yay! Something like that.

My house is actually free any time before the 21st, because my mom is in Taiwan and visiting Cambodia. So if it's possible that people are free before that, we can have it at my place as well.

I like the idea of a 'gag' gift for auction, but I guess we'll have to find something that everyone will like. And personal would be good if we all had more time on our hands, which I might... though all I can think of is origami stuff (I can make some pretty impressive pieces when I have time XP). I actually suggest doing handcrafts for auction instead, unless people plan to make something really personal. I don't know about Secret Santa though, because I want to get gifts for everyone...

I'm free pretty much any time after the 16th, though I might have rehearsals for this reading I'm supposed to do in February.

I have no idea how long the library is open for, but I'm their golden child so I can swap shifts at the last second if I need to. My house is also open for hosting.

And also, I'm going on Vacation on the 31. What I might do instead is give out IOUs, and buy you unique gifts from the Bahamas/Caribbean. If you're interested in that.

I'm also all for Secret Santa.
