Le Fringe

Hey howdy hey everybody!

So, I was just thinking about how it's getting closer and closer to the end of the month, and some of us had discussed going up to Edmonton for the Fringe Festival (since Calgary's sucked last year, although "Do You Bite Your Thumb At Me, Sir?" was pretty awesome, in my opinion). I just wanted to give a general poke about it, get talking, make some plans if everyone's still up for it. I need to give notice at work, and I'm sure others do as well, so better early than late, eh?

Tickets and the program for the entire event apparently go up around August 2, so I guess discussion about what to see/do will have to wait until then. But, from the 16th-26th, are there any days that are looking particularly viable? I'm thinking we go up for 3ish days to hang out and get a full experience, but I'm definitely flexible.

Thoughts?

I think 3ish days would be good, too, but I almost want to wait to see the schedule to decide. I just know if we pick a date too soon and commit, we'll see something on at a later date and go, "If ONLY we could see that..."

Yeah, you've definitely got a point, but I'm not sure about booking the time off. It's not quite two weeks between the 2nd and when everything else is going on. I mean, Staples might be okay with it, but maybe not, y'know?

Hmm.. I think I'll ask about it at work today.

This is also a good point....

It would be doable if we were there later, into the 20s days.

BTW, how do we plan to get there?

I asked Derryn today (and I *think* I have his name right), and he said, the sooner we get our time off request, the better. Definitely more than a week in advance. Although I'd really prefer the full two weeks =\

If we end up going in and around the end, I'll probably just put my notice in to include whatever days we'll be fringing. I was planning on having the last week off for packing and last hurrahs with everyone, anyway.

Uh, as for getting there, unless someone can miraculously drive us, I always figured on Red Arrow. But that's open to discussion.

Another thing here, Jason mentioned in an email that he might be leaving Edmonton around the 18th/19th, so that might mean we need to go early? I'll send him an email about what's going to happen if we go later, see what he says, and get it up here when I do.

But I guess, if we can all be around sometime on the 2nd when the schedule goes up, we can make a quick decision, put in the RTO thing, and get tickets.
