C'est ma tournure!!! (It's my turn!!!)

Ah... with Nyx's post on what her classes are like, it's now my turn! Btw... Nyx... your ACCTG 311 professor is UBER-delicious.... very nice features... very handsome... very Matthew Mcconaughey... (ooooooooo ;) ). Btw.. how did you get the picture of him???

This is on my plate:

Chem 211
Think of all the chemistry labs you've done in high school but this time, with lectures and a very nazi-esque focus on PRECISION and ACCURACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's an interesting course, but it's very lab heavy (35%). And the lab TAs are always like "ACCURACY!!!" and "PRECISION!!!!". Have you ever tried to read a buret to the nearest 0.01 mL???? Trust me... after 4 hours of doing that over and over again, you'll be practically BLIND!!!!

My prof is intersting... she's Russian (her name's SVETLANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and her accent's not as bad as I've heard from other professors and she seems to be quite fair and approachable.

Personal outlook for the course: So far so good, but with 4 hour labs, accuracy nazis, me going blind and doing nothing but titrations for the whole semester, outlook is "meh....". Oh! and all the annoying people in my other chem classes who I hated because of things like stupid questions that can be answered with personal common sense are ALL in my class ----___-----.

Hist 111
History of the Early Modern World (from 1500 to 1850). This is one of my personal favourite periods of history to study and today I learned why Hindu wives threw themseleves into the funeral pyres of their dead husbands! (Because if they didn't do that, then they were either chucked into the flames by the angry funeral mob or they were forced to live in disgrace and segregate themseleves from society for the rest of their life).

Personal outlook: Prof's ok... a little monotone, but speaks fluent English. Seems to be fair, but the term paper that I have to write is probably going to a pain in the arse... Oh! and for some reason, the room that my class is in is ALWAYS HOT!!!! DAMN YOU C.A.B.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hist 261
Think back to grade 10 social and the Canadian history unit and you have my course!!! I know that a lot of you hated the unit, but I've always liked post-Confederation Canadian history! (Most favourite event to study ever: FLQ Crisis!!!!).

I have this really cool Japanese lady teaching the course. Apparently, she was fascinated by Canadian history when she growing up in Japan and decided to come here to learn and teach it. She's gotten a lot of weird looks from people when she tells them what she teaches, but as she puts it: "there are Canadian professors who teach Russian history, Canadian professors who teach French history and Canadian professors who teach Japanese history... Why can't a Japanese professor teach Canadian history?"

Outlook: Being my one night class, it's once a week for 3 hours. It's basically helped to lighten up my course load because I only have two hours of class on Wednesday and Friday. My prof's accent is a little thick, but her writing's crystal clear... I mean.. she has a better grasp of grammar than me!!!! It should prove to be one of my more likeable courses this semester.

Poli S 101
Ah... Political Science 101... I have an awesome prof but a keener class.... grrr..... although there are those that don't even know we have a "bicameral legislature" (I hear an ass kicking commencing!!!). The past two classes have been great... nothing by discussions about fairly intruging topics (ie. Do we really want truly unbiased media?).

Outlook: at this rate, it'll be my one slack course this semester and a class that I'll actually look forward to sitting in for an hour and a half. Although the book that we have to read sounds... well, I'll let you guys be the judge.... it's called "The Life and Times of Liberal Democracy".... ---_---

Chem 361
The bane of my very existence.... I've only had two lectures and one lab and I already hate it with a renewed burning passion... My prof's an awesome guy, definetly approachable and knows what he's talking about. But the endless amounts of ORGANIC CHEM!!!! (DIES!!!! X_X). Even worse... I have to deal with all the keeners who thought organic chem 161/263 was a breeze (KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Labs are hell.... I couldn't get my locker open yesterday because apparently these locks require an extra spin... that and all my expensive glassware was missing and for a lab of 25 students, we only had 6 salt disks to go around. These salt disks were essential because we needed to place our samples on them in order to do scans. Worse, every person needed two disks... so while 3 people were having a go at the slow machines, 22 other people were standing doing NOTHING!!!

Outlook: As always with Organic chem, this class will the bane of the my existence. Expect much whining from me about the pain and suffering of this course and how much I loathe organic chem with a burning passion. Labs, as always, will carry on the tradition of being a pain in the ass... I can't wait for December..........

So ya! there we go... my class outlook for this semester.... So far it's ok... I'm getting work done in my bachelor pad and I'm on par with where my profs are.... hopefully it'll keep up! I'll be looking forward to the rest of doing similar summaries of your classes this term!

DEATH TO ORGANIC CHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
